What is Past Life Regression Therapy?
Past Life Regression Therapy (PLRT) may be understood, in simple terms, as a type of hypnotherapy. However, at the Centre for Psychotherapy, we utilise a method which brings a person to a heightened state of awareness. It takes Clients into their present childhood or even during birth time or into their past lives where they are able to re-experience and give closures to issues that may be causing problems in the current life.
At Centre for Psychotherapy, we attempt to bring a person into a heightened state of awareness. This has proved very beneficial to Clients who have gone through Past Life Regression Therapy. In our practise a person is fully aware and in control while undergoing Past Life Regression.
The Difference Between Regression Therapy and Past Life Regression
To our knowledge, there is no difference between Regression Therapy and Past Life Regression. Both terms are used interchangeably. Some therapies involve hypnotherapy, where unresolved emotions of the past are explored, whereas Past Life Regression Therapy encompasses this aspect, as well as the exploration of the subconscious mind in resolving emotions and experiences of Past Lives.
Within the sphere of Regression Therapy there are other therapies that attempt to explore and resolve emotions and experiences within the subconscious, such as Age Regression Therapy. The internet is filled with literature spanning different types of therapies.
Where Past Life Regression is concerned, the Therapist takes a step by step approach to reaching areas of emotions and experiences. A Past Life Regression Therapist usually takes a person through different stages of the current life (ages) and then proceeds on to Past Life Experiences.
Are Past Life and Reincarnation Real?
Past Life Regression Therapy is a controversial topic. And the internet is filled with literature, both for, and against, Past Life Regression Therapy. There are those who attempt to prove that this is an unethical therapy, because, well mainly there is no proof that Past Lives exist.
Yet there are people who recall very specific things – Names, places, instances, relationships and several other aspects of life – or details only the deceased person (who has now reincarnated) will know. For example, Shanti Devi, whose case was investigated by a commission set up by Mahatma Gandhi.
Ranker has a very interesting collection of short accounts in an Article titled “People With Really Believable Evidence For Their Claim They’re Reincarnated” written by Erin Wisti.
There are those who have built a case in favour of this Therapy. Why? Simply because it has helped them, and has helped the people around them. There are studies which have explored the existence of Past Life and Reincarnation, notably by the late Dr. Ian Stevenson, University of Virginia and Dr. Jim Tucker.
Recently there has been a lot of interest in the use of Regression Therapy for ailments such as Gilles De Tourette’s Syndrome [1], and the management of Pain, with promising results. Patients of Gilles De Tourettes have shown marked improvement.
The Internet is filled with cases of reincarnation which a person may take time and research. At the Centre for Psychotherapy, we have been able to help many Clients resolve issues through the use of Past Life Regression. We used this therapy successfully to help clients overcome anxiety, depression, addiction and suicidal tendencies besides other issues. Some clients just wanted to know about their purpose in life or why their belief system functioned the way it did. They found their answers.
