Dr. Nisha Rani set up Centre for Psychotherapy in the year 2003, and since then Centre for Psychotherapy has been providing Counselling and Psychotherapy services to the community in Singapore and Malaysia. In Malaysia, Centre for Psychotherapy has worked with ADFM (Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia) and private Clients from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Ipoh.
Through the years, we have worked with Government Organisations, Individuals, Families and Groups. Centre for Psychotherapy has conducted talks and workshops for Corporate Organisations, Financial Institutions and Ministerial Bodies, and also managed cases for such organisations.
Centre for Psychotherapy’s main Private Clientele base (Non Government / Official Organisation referred) is referral by word of mouth. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our Clients for their support.
Centre for Psychotherapy is an organisation which believes in social responsibility and giving back to the community. Over the years, we have done much pro-bono work (and continue to do so), and have worked with Clients who were unable to afford Counselling Services in other organisations. Although Centre for Psychotherapy is not funded by Private Investors or by any Government Non-Profit, or other Government funding scheme, we have never turned anyone away. We are a small company, with a vision to make effective quality care and counselling accessible to everyone.
Mental Wellness services today have gained much recognition in Singapore. There was a time when most felt that Mental Wellness was not as important, or rather, people were just not aware of such services in Singapore.
Believe it or not, there are people who are still unaware of Mental wellness services in Singapore! yes! We met someone recently who was surprised about what we do, and said (in Singlish – Singapore’s local version of English) “Wah! Really? Got such thing in Singapore?”
Now the same person is saying “Why I never know earlier” (about counselling).
Though Counselling and Psychotherapy have gained popularity in Singapore, much needs to be done to create an awareness that Mental Health and Wellness are just as important as Physical Health and Wellness. In most cases, Mental Health is the first step towards a healthier life! People need to realise this. A simple and common example, stress related diseases are related to…….Stress! This is a common example. We have been advocating this for a long time, and find that Mental Health and Wellness promote physical health and wellness. Of course Mental Health and Wellness is not a substitute for Medical Advise.
Today, services such as Counselling and Psychotherapy have become extremely important, and so have their method of delivery. We have adopted online counselling, and have begun work with our Overseas Clients through Whatsapp Video Call and Zoom Video Calls as they are not able to visit us, nor are we able to travel to them during this Covid-19 period.

I feel empowered when I think about my life history and the different experiences I’ve been through. This in turn empowers me with enough skills to care for my clients.
My experience in managing a vast array of issues over the 20 years of work experience has equipped me with certain abilities and skills which only such experiences can offer.
My own life experiences empowered me with intuition that allows me to see what my clients may be going through. I ensure my clients have a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment so that they are able to express their thoughts and emotions, and in turn learn to deal with their challenges and get in touch with themselves, “the true self”.
Empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence allows the design of an effective treatment plan in collaboration with Clients. Clients feel empowered with skills and techniques learned which they use to manage the challenges they experience.
Some of the approaches, intervention techniques we use include:
Trauma Intervention
Complex PTSD Intervention -Neuro Science based,
Somatic Intervention,
Mindfulness,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
CBT Mindfulness,
Psychoanalysis,
Family Therapy,
Meditation
Amongst others.
My professional experience, which is also a journey of self-discovery, developed me and bestowed upon me an awareness that allowed me to understand my Clients better. Diverse experiences allowed me to work with a diverse population of people who came in with a range of complex challenges.
I walk alongside Clients throughout their journey. My clients feel safe and comfortable with me. No one needs to be alone as they face challenges. Every Client’s journey is a unique journey of Self Discovery. Awareness about my own journey of life allowed me to understand the process that clients go through.
Clients develop a new vision for their future as they see the light at the end of the tunnel and appreciate the work we do together. They say that I am an effective counsellor and psychotherapist. Core conditions like empathy, active listening and unconditional positive regard allow clients to feel comfortable enough to share confidently.
My passion for learning gears me towards Continuing and Ongoing Professional Development. My personal abilities such as intuition, developed with experience, professional approach, calm and collected nature, coupled with the Professional and rigorous training I have received, has allowed me to develop into the Professional I am today.
At the core of my practise is the person centered approach. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychoanalytic Therapy besides other integrative methods for the sake of intervention. I am also a Past Life Regression Therapist, and a Hypnotherapist.
